With the threat of a werehyena takeover dealt with, Kess, Finn, and Rafe can finally enjoy the tentative peace Miami has to offer. As Kess moves forward with her decision to open up the territory to peaceful weres, she knows that the Keepers of Divine Order—a group of werejackal assassins—are watching her every move. If her plan fails, she knows they won’t hesitate to eliminate her and her friends.

When several werehyenas suddenly disappear and Mebis, the Keeper assigned to Miami, goes unexpectedly missing, Kess fears the worst. But even she’s unprepared for this latest threat: a hunter hiding in plain sight whose only goal is killing werecreatures. Can Kess and her friends survive this most dangerous game?

About the Author: Jeanette Battista

Jeanette Battista graduated with an English degree with a concentration in medieval literature which explains her possibly unhealthy fixation on edged weapons and cathedral architecture. She spent a summer in England and Scotland studying the historical King Arthur, which did nothing to curb her obsession. To satisfy her adrenaline cravings—since sword fighting is not widely accepted in these modern times—she rode a motorcycle at ridiculously high speeds, got some tattoos, and took kickboxing and boxing classes. She gave up the bike when her daughter came along, although she still gets pummeled at the gym on a regular basis.
When she’s not writing or working, Jeanette spends time with family, hikes, reads, makes decadent brownies, buys killer boots, and plays Pocket Frogs. She wishes there were more hours in the day so she could actually do more of these things. She lives with her daughter and their two psychotic kittens in North Carolina.

My Review: I have slowly become addicted to this world as it merrys the fantastic notion of were's living in our society and the politics of the many factions/species.  I slowly got to know the characters through the last three books and their personalities further developed in this one.  Without giving away any big spoilers on this series I will say I DID NOT EXPECT the plot twists at all.  I really enjoyed how Jeanette was able to add another dimension to the story with Lukas and Zamiel.  I am going to continue with the next in this series and hope that we see much more from Jeanette in the future.  I easily give this book a 5 out of 5 as I commonly am able to predict most stories with great accuracy.  I wasn't able to predict anything with these books so far!

Miami is still in the hands of the wereleopard clan. Sekhmet's assassination has been dealt with, and Samara's attempt to take over the city has been stopped for now. But things aren't simple for Kess, especially now that she has Samara's son, Rafe, to deal with. While others see only a spy, Kess is determined to help the damaged young man abandoned by his mother.

Rafe is torn: his mother left him in the hands of the wereleopards, presumably to die, but Kess has treated him more like a guest than a prisoner. But Rafe still feels a sense of loyalty to his werehyena pack, and he's uniquely placed to gather information that his mother will need if she ever hopes to take Miami. Things grow even more complicated for the young werehyena when Cormac's non-were sister comes to town for a visit. Rafe finds himself fascinated by the girl, finding more and more reasons to question his loyalty to his pack.

Rafe knows his mother isn't done with Miami or Kess. In the final bloody conflict between wereleopard and hyena, which side will he choose?

My Review: LOVE LOVE LOVE this series! Every book just gets better and better! What a tragic story for Rafe...but the story closes well!  I enjoyed the complexity of this book and the politics.  I also find that the further development of characters in previous books keeps me enthralled.  Jeanette has a capability like some of my favourite authors to keep you intwined in the small sub plots while also entrenched in a world with many moving parts.  Well received book! I give it a 5 out of 5!

My Review: Once again Jeanette has built upon the fantastic world and further developed her characters.  I adore the witty sarcasm Finn consistently provides.  The introduction of the were jackals and were hyenas is interesting and brings another dynamic to the whole were world.  I stumbled on this series by accident by browsing authors and book titles and have to admit I am very happy I found it.  I enjoyed the story of Leila and hope to see a book about her brother Mebis soon!  I give this book a 5 out of 5.  I will be continuing with the rest of this published series and blogging about them all.

My Review: I found this series to be refreshing in it's simplicity.  Were world meets real world problems.  Jeanette was able to capture the essence of a Leopard and its mannerisms as I would assume they would have as relating to a cat.  She was also able to capture the differences between Wolfs (dogs) and Leopards (cats) in a very funny way.  I enjoyed following Kess on this journey and see her learn at her young age that dedication doesn't have to be to ones pack but to those one loves.  Well written book and I expect to enjoy much more of this adventure with Jeanette. I give this book a 5 out of 5!

My Review: I found this series MANY MANY years ago and fell in love.  I adore every single Lord and the women with quirks they fall in love with! Gena has the capability to make readers see this fantastic world and believe! I read this book over a 24 hour period and now feel a need for more.  I have already suggested my best friend pick up this series and have been told she will.  Tor Tor has always been my favorite of the lords. And I just LOVE Anya.  So to find another woman who can rival Anya in all ways and even best her....VERY fun read! I love how I could be reading an intense part of the book and all of a sudden it cuts to a fight between two with scissors.  Too endearing!!!
I easily give this book a 5 out of 5 and will certainly read it again and again waiting for the next story!  Glad to hear about Baden and Pandora too! Keep em coming Gena!

Book Review: A Beauty So Beastly (The Beastly Series #1) by RaShelle Workman

Book 1 in the Beastly Series

“For your vanity, your cruelty, and your cold unfeeling heart, a curse I leave upon you . . .”

What happens if the beauty is also the beast?

The stunning Beatrice Cavanaugh is considered American royalty. She has everything except the ability to love. Cursed on her eighteenth birthday, she becomes more beastly than ever, having a newfound craving for raw meat, and an undeniable yearning for the night. Bitterness is her only companion.

After accusing a maid of stealing, a disgustingly kind and exquisitely handsome guy named Adam shows up asking Beatrice to drop the charges against his mother.

Infuriated by his goodness, Beatrice vows to break him. Destroy him. Make him hurt the way she hurts. So she agrees. On one condition: Adam must take his mother’s place as a servant in the mansion.

Because Beatrice won’t stop until he’s more beastly than she is.

My Review:  I am thoroughly enjoying the revisiting of old tales I grew up with and seeing how they twist.  RaShelle has a very outstanding approach to looking outside the proverbial box and just when you think the storyline is gonna settle down...another twist.  I also love how this is a separate series from Blood and Snow but also entwines by showing you Troy and how Cole went missing.  Very exciting to see and I look forward to seeing more stories with Troy and Cole as well.  I do hope to see more of the other brothers from Blood and Snow too!  I enjoyed this book and will be following all new releases from both series.

Blood and Snow Season Two
Book 1 ~ Vampire Lies

*** Eyes like violet sapphires. Wings of smoldering fire. Consume your true love's blood. Become the Eternal Vampire. ***

Once upon a time there lived a vampire with wings and the genie who loved her...

Born of the seven magics, Jasmine is different in every way, including the obnoxious wings on her back courtesy of the original Vampires. She wants to be normal, to be a regular teenaged girl.

When a gorgeous dark-haired boy named Laeddin shows up and promises to sneak her away from all her problems and hide her in the human world, she agrees.

But an evil lurks in her nightmares, a man with red eyes. It doesn’t take long for Jasmine to realize that no matter how far she tries to run from who she is, he’s only a dream away. He wants her. He needs her. He acts as though he loves her.

It’s becoming harder and harder to tell the difference between the path that’ll lead to her happily ever after, and the path that’ll lead to her destruction as well as all magic.

My Review: I LOVE GABRIEL.  I honestly think he is so misunderstood.  He means well and wants to please everyone without thinking of himself.  I look forward to reading more about his happy ending as I'm sure it'll be amazing.  I also loved the development of Snow from a klutz into the Vampire Queen.  Great Short!

Book Review: The Hunter's Tale (Blood and Snow Short) by RaShelle Workman

This is a short story in the Blood and Snow world told from the Hunter's point of view.

The Hunter was banished for his betrayal; shamed and alone, he sought out ways to dispel his guilt. But when rumors of a new Vampire reach him, he realizes he has one choice: seek her out.

My Review: I found this short story to be just that. VERY SHORT.  While I didn't dislike the story at all I did find it to be very short and left me wanting more.  I honestly felt a distrust of the character Christopher/Chance when he was banished in the last book...but this book opened the possibility for him to be redeemable.....yet maybe not.  I want to hear more about Christopher and look forward to more developments in this tale.

Book Review: The Cindy Chronicles: The Complete Set (The Cindy Chronicles) by RaShelle Workman

From a seemingly insignificant word comes the most magical of fairytales.

SUMMARY:

Possessing magic sucks.
What doesn't suck? Fashion, Cindy's boyfriend Gabe, and her best friend, Snow White.
Cindy (Cinderella...shhh, don't tell) was born a witch. It's part of who she is. But there's more to her than that. She loves deeply. And has a big heart. She'd do anything for those she cares about, including risk her own life to save theirs.
When her fairy godmother demands she leave Salem, Massachusetts and return to the land she was born to rule, she has two options. Tell her fairy godmother no, and seal a death sentence on complete strangers. Or, leave all she's ever known behind, including the love of her life, for an unknown land she's fated to save.
So, yeah, life sucks.
But Cindy is determined to change that.

The Cindy Chronicles:

Witch Magic
Witch Land
Witch Time
Witch Kiss
Witch Love
Witch End

My Review:  Once again RaShelle shines with her writing! I can't seem to put her books down! The characters are so vivid you can almost imagine they are real!  I am enjoying this series and honestly am excited to bring my daughter into this world! Unlike alot of YA books this one doesn't bring in too much sex or violence...it's more subdued which is better for the young adults I believe, but the story is so fun it can even keep an adult (myself) reading!  Another 5 of 5 from me!! Great Job!!

My Review:  In continuing on with the series I am just as enthralled in these books as I was by her first four novels. This series is so entertaining and just when you think you've got it all figured out......out comes another  curve in the story! So exciting!
I love how the plot thickens with each additional novel! A solid 5 of 5 again! Well Done!!
