With the threat of a werehyena takeover dealt with, Kess, Finn, and Rafe can finally enjoy the tentative peace Miami has to offer. As Kess moves forward with her decision to open up the territory to peaceful weres, she knows that the Keepers of Divine Order—a group of werejackal assassins—are watching her every move. If her plan fails, she knows they won’t hesitate to eliminate her and her friends.

When several werehyenas suddenly disappear and Mebis, the Keeper assigned to Miami, goes unexpectedly missing, Kess fears the worst. But even she’s unprepared for this latest threat: a hunter hiding in plain sight whose only goal is killing werecreatures. Can Kess and her friends survive this most dangerous game?

About the Author: Jeanette Battista

Jeanette Battista graduated with an English degree with a concentration in medieval literature which explains her possibly unhealthy fixation on edged weapons and cathedral architecture. She spent a summer in England and Scotland studying the historical King Arthur, which did nothing to curb her obsession. To satisfy her adrenaline cravings—since sword fighting is not widely accepted in these modern times—she rode a motorcycle at ridiculously high speeds, got some tattoos, and took kickboxing and boxing classes. She gave up the bike when her daughter came along, although she still gets pummeled at the gym on a regular basis.
When she’s not writing or working, Jeanette spends time with family, hikes, reads, makes decadent brownies, buys killer boots, and plays Pocket Frogs. She wishes there were more hours in the day so she could actually do more of these things. She lives with her daughter and their two psychotic kittens in North Carolina.

My Review: I have slowly become addicted to this world as it merrys the fantastic notion of were's living in our society and the politics of the many factions/species.  I slowly got to know the characters through the last three books and their personalities further developed in this one.  Without giving away any big spoilers on this series I will say I DID NOT EXPECT the plot twists at all.  I really enjoyed how Jeanette was able to add another dimension to the story with Lukas and Zamiel.  I am going to continue with the next in this series and hope that we see much more from Jeanette in the future.  I easily give this book a 5 out of 5 as I commonly am able to predict most stories with great accuracy.  I wasn't able to predict anything with these books so far!

Miami is still in the hands of the wereleopard clan. Sekhmet's assassination has been dealt with, and Samara's attempt to take over the city has been stopped for now. But things aren't simple for Kess, especially now that she has Samara's son, Rafe, to deal with. While others see only a spy, Kess is determined to help the damaged young man abandoned by his mother.

Rafe is torn: his mother left him in the hands of the wereleopards, presumably to die, but Kess has treated him more like a guest than a prisoner. But Rafe still feels a sense of loyalty to his werehyena pack, and he's uniquely placed to gather information that his mother will need if she ever hopes to take Miami. Things grow even more complicated for the young werehyena when Cormac's non-were sister comes to town for a visit. Rafe finds himself fascinated by the girl, finding more and more reasons to question his loyalty to his pack.

Rafe knows his mother isn't done with Miami or Kess. In the final bloody conflict between wereleopard and hyena, which side will he choose?

My Review: LOVE LOVE LOVE this series! Every book just gets better and better! What a tragic story for Rafe...but the story closes well!  I enjoyed the complexity of this book and the politics.  I also find that the further development of characters in previous books keeps me enthralled.  Jeanette has a capability like some of my favourite authors to keep you intwined in the small sub plots while also entrenched in a world with many moving parts.  Well received book! I give it a 5 out of 5!

My Review: Once again Jeanette has built upon the fantastic world and further developed her characters.  I adore the witty sarcasm Finn consistently provides.  The introduction of the were jackals and were hyenas is interesting and brings another dynamic to the whole were world.  I stumbled on this series by accident by browsing authors and book titles and have to admit I am very happy I found it.  I enjoyed the story of Leila and hope to see a book about her brother Mebis soon!  I give this book a 5 out of 5.  I will be continuing with the rest of this published series and blogging about them all.

"The Moon series is filled with action and romance, shape shifters and strong heroines."--Melissa Marr, NYT bestselling author of the Wicked Lovely series

How do you disappear when you come from a family of predators?

A wereleopard, Kess is forced to flee her home and family in Miami once her brother's obsession with her turns violent. She runs from city to city, trying to stay one step ahead of the investigators her family has dispatched to bring her home. Kess ends up in the mountains of North Carolina and attracts the attention of Cormac, a young man with a secret of his own. As she attempts to live as normal a life as her were-nature allows, her brother Sek continues to hunt for her. He believes she is the key to revitalizing their weakened clan and is driven to extreme measures to ensure their continued existence. As Kess' relationship with Cormac deepens, Sek closes in, threatening Cormac's life and Kess' freedom.

Whenthe moon rises, the hunt is on….

My Review: I found this series to be refreshing in it's simplicity.  Were world meets real world problems.  Jeanette was able to capture the essence of a Leopard and its mannerisms as I would assume they would have as relating to a cat.  She was also able to capture the differences between Wolfs (dogs) and Leopards (cats) in a very funny way.  I enjoyed following Kess on this journey and see her learn at her young age that dedication doesn't have to be to ones pack but to those one loves.  Well written book and I expect to enjoy much more of this adventure with Jeanette. I give this book a 5 out of 5!

About the Author: Gena Showalter

Gena Showalter is the New York Times and USA Today best-selling author of the wildly popular White Rabbit Chronicles, the Angels of the Dark, the Lords of the Underworld, and the Otherworld Assassins series.  In addition to being a National Reader's Choice and RITA nominee, her romance novels have appeared in Cosmopolitan and Seventeen magazine, and have been translated in multiple languages.  She lives in Oklahoma with her family and menagerie of dogs, and truly believes love conquers all.

My Review: I found this series MANY MANY years ago and fell in love.  I adore every single Lord and the women with quirks they fall in love with! Gena has the capability to make readers see this fantastic world and believe! I read this book over a 24 hour period and now feel a need for more.  I have already suggested my best friend pick up this series and have been told she will.  Tor Tor has always been my favorite of the lords. And I just LOVE Anya.  So to find another woman who can rival Anya in all ways and even best her....VERY fun read! I love how I could be reading an intense part of the book and all of a sudden it cuts to a fight between two with scissors.  Too endearing!!!
I easily give this book a 5 out of 5 and will certainly read it again and again waiting for the next story!  Glad to hear about Baden and Pandora too! Keep em coming Gena!
