January 23, 2014

So I had an opportunity last month to attend a entrap ranger event in my town and while there spoke with a writer local to this area.  I purchased a copy of her first two books without reading the back as I enjoy being surprised.  I took my time finishing a series I was midway through (see previous blogs) and finally got to these books yesterday.  I went in with an open mind and here is my review.

WOW.  I truly don't read romance a lot that isn't in the paranormal genre as it doesn't attract me much but I was hooked.  I fell in love with Quinn but also with Davina as she is a real girl....I could relate to her in many ways.  I enjoyed the quick whit between them and the passion she had for her ladies.  I was angry at Guy and wanted to hurt him but what got to me most......I fell in love with Jake.  He is a hero in this and stood out to me so much.  Luke didn't have a huge presence but wasn't as memorable.  I really was doubtful about how the book could keep getting better as they met on a plane right away but was continually thrown through a loop when another plot twist was there.  Very well written as I was so engaged in this book I started the second book the next day.

Going into this book I knew the writing was done well and the characters were solidly built.  I had a sense for the bonds and such.  I was a bit sceptical about how they would continue this story and if other characters would get to shine.  I once again hadn't read the back as I love being surprised with a good storyline.  I enjoyed the further development of this book and fell hard and fast for Quinn again.  I was heartbroken when the violence began and the end was amazing....I know from talking to Deborah that there is another book in the works and I can't wait and hope to get a copy and review it as soon as it hit the shelves.  Until then my friends I am going to find another book to read! ❤️❤️❤️

26) Lawe's Justice - Lawe and Diane - Lion Breed - Diane Broen's lived to protect her younger sister Rachel from harm. But now that Rachel has been mated off, Diane's occupied herself with less fulfilling tasks at the Genetics Council--until she's paired with a new team member, a Breed male notorious for his attitude, and a touch that makes her recoil. Lawe isn't thrilled with her either. A lion at heart, he prefers a lair of solitude. When it comes to females, he'd rather snarl than purr. And while fate may have paired them to fight on the same team, neither is willing to admit to the obvious: the mating heat between them is positively incinerating.

I loves this book! For a breed who constantly refused to accept mating heat to get it was nice to see.  Very complex book with a fun heroine who isn't light and fluffy but willing to fight too.  I enjoyed the extra depth of characters and the Navajo Nation being brought into it.  I think her books just keep getting better and better!  It'll be a sad day when this series ends.

27) Stygian's Honor - Stygian and Honor/Liza -  Window Rock, Arizona, is the last known location of Honor Roberts, who vanished when she was just thirteen. It was her only sanctuary from the Breed research that would surely have ended in her death—one such insidious experiment should, indeed, have killed her. That she lived is both a miracle—and a great mystery.

This book captivated my heart.  I saw how a nation of people went above their own
lives to protect someone's welfare and it would sure be a beautiful world if we had more people in real life like that.  I really enjoyed the complexity and depth of this story and how well it intertwined with Lawes and Diane's story.   I anxiously will await the next in this series. ❤️❤️❤️

January 11, 2014

So I have been reading a lot but become neglectful in my blogging.  I will attempt to catch up once again and keep update. 😁

21) Lions Heat – Jonas and Rachael - Lion Breed - The story you’ve been waiting for. Jonas Wyatt. It’s time that bad boy Lion is brought to his knees. Or at least forced to have weak knees. Would he tremble for his mate? Would he bow before her? Is there anything or anyone that could actually be considered a weakness for our arrogant Director?

Soon you’ll see just how deep, how well and how savagely Jonas Wyatt can truly love.

I found this book an awesome read! It was HIGHLY anticipated as it was Jonas the Bogeyman of the breeds....but I still really enjoyed it!  There were lots of twists and it kept me reading well past a reasonable hour at night.

22) Styx's Storm - Styx and Storm - Wolf Breed -  To save innocent, young Storme Montague from the claws of Breed slave traders, Wolf Breed Styx is forced to claim her himself-on the condition that Storme will no longer be a virgin by night's end. And though Storme's defenses are up, Styx will free her-in ways she never expects.

So I fell in love with Styx by his brogue and fun loving character before meeting this girl.  I think he is a wonderfully expressive character that once again pulled me further into this world of breeds.  I would have enjoyed hearing a conversation between him and his human grandfather and possibly explore that character a bit more.  I wasn't impressed with the heroine and found her to be a weak willed person.  I did however enjoy the overall story.

23) Primal Kiss in the Primal Anthology - Creed and Kita - Lion Breed - When the bad boy lion breed, Creed Raines, crashes the family cabin while Pharmaceutical CEO Horace Engalls' daughter is vacationing, it sets off a series of events that even Creed couldn't have imagined beginning. Mating Heat blows sky high, hot and overwhelming, and reminding him of all the reasons he had fought to avoid it. Especially with the shy, though incredibly stubborn decidedly willful, much loved and cherished Engalls Princess, Kita Engalls.

But for Jonas Wyatt it could be a blessing in disguise, because only Horace Engalls knows the true scope of Phillip Brackenmore’s evil. And only by holding Kita hostage to the truth Jonas demands, will it ever come to light. But can mating heat bloom and became the fiery tendrils of love when Kita suspects her breed has betrayed her?

Not impressed with this story.  Too many holes and unanswered questions.  Heroine seems stupid and flighty and creed seems like a jock.  I didn't like the story.

24) Navarro's Promise - Navarro and Mica - Wolf Breed -  Mica Toler’s best friend is the wolf/coyote hybrid breed, Cassie Sinclair. And now Mica is being drawn into her world in ways she had prayed she never would be when the charming wolf breed Navarro makes good on the promise he made her on a dark, explosive night.

LOVED this story!!! Mica rocks! She is strong willed and holds her own against her mate.  I loved he whole story and how many old characters are brought into it.  I enjoyed how the "mating heat phenomenon" is changing with each couple.  Tricky Mother Nature!

25) An Inconvenient Mate (Tied with a Bow anthology)- Malachi and Isabelle- Coyote Breed- Isabelle Martinez was instantly fascinated by the sexy Coyote Breed she met at the bar, but her sensual flirtation with him was cut short when she saw the man who'd attacked her arrive at the bar.

Breed enforcer Malachi Morgan was entranced by Isabelle's mix of shyness and boldness, and he was determined to chase and play with his sensual prey. But he could tell she'd been hurt before by a man, and he vowed that Isabelle was now his to protect and love, even as if it meant going against her family and his orders.

Not so impressed with this anthology either....seems like a huge buildup to the meeting.....horrible past for her......then he is dead and just plainly accepts him as her mate.  I don't see any woman being this able to blindly accept someone based on gossip magazines and news and not question anything but fall madly in love.  I am not so certain I enjoyed this one.
